WATERFORD, Ohio (WTAP) - Jocelyn Majoy, who has taught at Waterford Elementary School for 17 years, is the March 2018 winner of the Jan Dils' Golden Apple Award.
She was nominated by a former student who says Majoy is known for always making sure her students had what they needed.
That includes dress shirts and shoes for certain programs, and providing meals out of her own pocket.
One quote she uses in her classroom is, "If you believe in something, you will be something, so always believe in something grand."
"Before every class, like the younger kids, I always do a morning song. I kind of sneak in that they have to sing by themselves. Then gradually they realize, it's not a big deal about what they are wearing in the song. It makes them feel special, and that's what I try to do. Is to make them feel special every day and I think that's what helps them bring them out."
Majoy says the children at Waterford Elementary are simply amazing, and she is thankful for receiving this award.
