The Ohio State University Extension, alongside River City Farmer's Market, held a Junior Farmer's market for a select group of students at Putnam Elementary on Thursday.

Around 30 fourth graders participated, and at the start were given $5 to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from the market.

There were other activities to enjoy such as a Taste Test station, Kids Yoga, and a Re-think Your Drink spinning wheel.

The goal was to educate the kids on healthy food and drinks, as well as hoping they embrace a healthier lifestyle at an early age. The volunteers at the event were thrilled at the kids excitement of eating, or in some cases, trying the food for the first time.

"To see them animated over trying something new, or maybe trying something they really like is, I don’t know how to describe it other than amazing," said Tom Fagan, President of the River City Farmer's Market. "It makes you feel good, it makes you energized to do more things like this with kids."

OSU Extension brings many of these events to places across Ohio.
