PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - The Wood County Sheriff Department has a new member and he might be a little bit furrier than his partner.
Meet Drago he’s a new canine with the Wood County Sheriff and his first day was this week.
After being certified earlier in the week, Drago and his partner Sheriff Deputy Phillips are now on duty together.
He has the ability to find illegal drugs as well as track down items that would possibly be looked over by a human; doing this all with his powerful sense of smell.
Deputy Phillips says not only did the dog have to go through training but she did as well to prepare for the canine.
Drago was certified both nationally and by Ohio before going on duty on Wednesday.
