PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- With Christmas less than a month away, many families have already decorated their house.
While a fresh cut, natural Christmas Tree is normally the centerpiece of any home, it can pose as a fire hazard if not taken care of properly.
From 2012 through 2016 an average of 170 house fires was caused by fire trees, but thankfully there are ways to prevent this from happening.
We talked to Terry Dunn of Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm in Pettyville and he gave one tip for keeping you safe:
“Once it’s in the stand you want to make sure you are watering it continuously, the biggest problem most people have with trees is they let the stand dry out the first day or two.”
