Local K-9 Drago presented with winning check in online competition
Wood County Sheriff Department's Drago was presented with his $500 check after winning a K-9 competition put on by Aftermath.
The ceremony took place in the department's lobby on Thursday with Andy Wilburn, representative for Aftermath, gifting the check to both Drago and his handler, Sheriff's deputy Taylor Phillips.
Deputy Phillips entered Drago in the competition back in October, vying for the grant money against other K-9's in the Mid-Ohio Valley, including Marietta Police Department's Edo.
But after receiving the most online votes, Drago came out on top.
Deputy Phillips says the win shows how supportive the community is to law enforcement and the K-9 department.
Aftermath will award over 16 thousand dollars to various law enforcement K-9 units, with the top winner receiving $5,000.
