Local Walmart manager honored for helping veterans

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A local veterans group recognized the efforts of a store manager from a big-name retailer for helping support veterans.

The Sergeant Bob O'Malley Marine Corp detachment in Marietta presented Marietta Walmart store manager Josh Wagner with a certificate of appreciation Wednesday.

It recognizes Wagner's willingness and openness in working with the veterans' group to raise money and awareness.

Mayor Joe Matthews, a Marine corp veteran himself, attended the presentation and even awarded Wagner an honorary key to the city.

Wagner, a Waterford native, said this means so much to him to be able to help serve his community.

"As Walmart we try to do a lot of stuff in the community whether it be through our local grants, the fundraising at the doors that we do," Wagner added. "We love being part of the community and you know we've got 300-plus associates that are a part of this community and we want to be involved."

Wagner added that he hopes to continue helping out the veterans and other causes in the community.
