Local authorities plan to be on the watch for drunk drivers this weekend

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - This weekend is one of the more dangerous holidays to be on the road but local authorities say there are ways to keep you and others safe.
In 2017, almost 60 people were killed nationwide due to drunk driving accidents during the St. Patrick’s holiday.
Locally here in the Mid-Ohio Valley agencies such as the Ohio Highway patrol do plan on having troopers out to watch for drunk drivers.
In Wood County, the Sheriff’s Department does not have plans to have extra deputies out this weekend but they will be looking for impaired drivers.
As always, the best recommendation for those who plan to drink is to make sure you have a designated driver or a way home that is safe.
