Beekeepers buzz into town for honeybee expo

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Mid-Ohio Valley Beekeepers Association hosts its 18th annual Honeybee Expo where beekeepers from all over the Mid-Ohio Valley came out to learn and fellowship.

Beekeepers in attendance stressed the importance of bees and what they mean to the environment.

"People think of bees and they think of honey but in the United States, the value of honey is only in the millions where the value for pollination is in the billions, so a third of all the food we eat has a pollinator somewhere; honey bees being the most," said Kenny Bach, Mid-Ohio Valley Beekeepers, president.

Organizers say this was the largest turnout so far, with more than 300 people attending.
