Local choir set to begin rehearsals

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. The Parkersburg choral society is getting ready to take the stage this fall and this Tuesday, they will begin rehearsals.

This is an open rehearsal for anyone who would like to be apart of the choir.

The Parkersburg Choral Society is a community choir that performs various genres of music.

Luke Zyla haas been the conductor of the choral society since 1997.

"There's a lot of music to learn, one of the requirements to be in the choral society is you have to be able to read music because you have to be able to do some preparation outside of rehearsal with only one rehearsal a week, we can't teach them by rote. You have to be able to read music," said Zyla.

Rehearsals will be held at St. Margaret Mary church at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
