Local florists prepare for Mother’s Day rush

PARKERSBURG, W.Va (WTAP)- Obermeyer’s Florist shop says they filled 150 orders Friday morning alone, all in preparation for one of their biggest days of the year. They say that Mother’s Day is second only to Valentine’s Day for flower sales, so the shop plans months in advance to pull it all off.

“The Mother’s Day flower is a carnation and it started in Grafton, West Virginia, so a lot of people want pinks, purples, and a lot of carnations, a lot of roses, of course,” notes Tina Perkins, owner of Obermeyer’s.

In addition to their premade grab-and-go arrangements, the shop is also offering custom made hanging baskets as well.

They will be open until 2 P.M. Saturday afternoon and receiving orders until Saturday at 10 A.M.

They will be closed on Sunday.
