STEWART, Ohio (WTAP) - Several community members came out Sunday to “rise up” for Bry.
Bry Wallace is an Alexander student who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma earlier this year.
Emma Beha is a junior at Federal Hocking and met Bry through cheerleading.
“I'd see her cheering out there and she was really energetic. She just looked like she enjoyed it," said Beha.
Although Bry is not a close friend of Emma’s, she still wanted to help in any way that she could.
“When I found out she had cancer, I felt really bad and I knew a bunch of schools wanted to do a Powderpuff football so I just put the two together," said Beha,
Young girls from Alexander, Federal Hocking, Nelsonville, and Trimble came out and played some flag football.
Deana McKinley is Bry’s cheerleading coach at Alexander High School and has known Bry since she was she was a child.
“Reception has just been…everybody is there for her. She is not fighting this alone. She is fighting with the whole community," said McKinley.
Bry couldn't make it to the game, but all of the proceeds from the game will go to her and her family.
"She would probably be in tears; she's a very sweet, brave little girl and has one of the biggest hearts you'd ever meet. She cares about everybody and she's going to kick cancer's butt," said McKinley.
