Local organization honoring local heroes

ST. MARY'S, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Pleasants Area Lions Club is honoring heroes with flags waving across the Pleasanta County Court House lawn.

There are a total of 51 flags and each one represents a hero, including military personell; those who have died and those who are still with us, first responders, and beloved family members who have been sponsored by the organization.

The Pleasants Area Lions Club is honoring these heroes with the fundraiser, Flags for Heroes.

Clare Suljit is the reverend of St. Marys United Methodist Church and the president of the Pleasants Area Lions Club.

Proceeds from it help benefits folks who are in need of eyeglasses and other things related to that," said Rev. Suljit.

The flags will continue waving through Labor Day.
