Lowell youth racer chosen for national supercross event

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - A seven-year-old supercross racer from Lowell, Ohio, will start his engine with the pros this weekend at a national competition.

Brant Flowers has been racing motorbikes since he was three-years-old. Recently, he was selected to race in the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge at the Monster Energy Supercross series, taking place Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

His parents say they are proud of him for following his dreams to be a professional racer one day.

"You just gotta be fast," Brant said about what it takes to be a racer. "It's not about winning to me, it's about having fun."

"He says he wants to do that as a career," said TJ Flowers, Brant's father. "You know I'm all for it. It keeps kids out of a lot of trouble. It did me anyways. I'm all for supporting him so hopefully he can make a go at it and we'll see how it goes."

Brant is excited to get a chance to hang with professional riders at the event, including his favorite Marvin Musquinn.

The event will air on NBC Sports Network Saturday.
