Former Lynn Street Tavern torn down by city

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - An abandoned building in Parkersburg that was once home to the Lynn Street Tavern was torn down on Tuesday.

Officials said the building, which had been around for more than 50 years, had been closed for a few years.

It was torn down by the city of Parkersburg's Urban Renewal Authority to make way for a cleaner community in the Lynn Street area, officials said.

Residents said they welcomed the demolition because homeless people had been living in the building.
