MOV Celebrates National Day of Prayer
Despite the rain this afternoon, dozens gathered out-side to join in prayer right here in the Mid-Ohio-Valley.
The National Day of Prayer was written into law in 1952 and in 1988 President Reagan amended the initial law, designating the first Thursday of May each year as the National Day of Prayer.
Many folks gathered outside of the Washington County Court house this afternoon to listen to the many messages leaders of the community had to bring.
Commissioner Ron Feathers, Tim Craft, and Mayor Joe Matthews all spoke to Marietta residents who took time out of their day to listen, bow their heads, and pray.
Wood County Christian School student Ethan Thibauld says, "I think it is just a chance for everyone to come together and really pray and just focus on some of our problems and some of the good things of our country and just come together and unite through that."
Also gathered today were residents in both Williamstown and Parkersburg.
