Man uses front-end loader to flip woman's vehicle, authorities say

HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - Hocking County authorities arrested an Athens County man after he admitted to stealing a front-end loader and using it to flip over a woman’s car.

According to a post on the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, Carl H. Williams III, 26, of Glouster, took the loader from Murray Timber and Log Company, where he was an employee, on Saturday.

After using it to flip over the woman’s car on Main Street in Murray City, he hit another car while driving away on State Route 216. Williams was arrested shortly after he returned the loader to Murray Timber and fled into the woods.

Authorities originally charged Williams with theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, but according to Hocking County Municipal Court online records, the charge was dropped when he appeared in court on Monday.

The sheriff’s office said he could still face charges when the case is presented to a Hocking County grand jury.

The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
