PARKERSBURG, West Virginia (WTAP) - UPDATE 6/26/2019:
Many attended a hiring event today in Parkersburg in hopes of working at a local plant.
Manpower was holding a hiring event for Hino Motors which is located in mineral wells.
The jobs the company were seeking to fill included logistics and manufacturing jobs.
Talking to Doug Harper of Manpower, he says this time of the year sees an increase in need for employees.
“Demand goes up in the summer, their demand goes up as well so it correlates to needing more people and then that the fact that they are growing.”
Hino motors works with manpower often so Doug says that it is likely that they will hold another hiring event in the near future.
One of the biggest employers in the area is looking for new workers after moving to a new facility.
Manpower is hosting a hiring event for Hino motors at its office at 1047 Emerson avenue in Parkersburg Wednesday from 10 to 6:00 p.m.
Hino, a commercial truck manufacturer, recently moved to a larger facility in Mineral Wells.
Now, the company is seeking truck assembly and logistics workers. And manpower officials believe these person-to-person hiring events are the perfect opportunities for interested to learn more about Hino and the different jobs it offers.
"We're able to answer a lot of questions so I would highly encourage people to show up," Manpower of parkersburg region operations manager Doug Harper said. "Once again, those could be people that aren't happy at their job, maybe you have a dead-end job and you're looking for more than just a job, you're looking for a career."
Manpower held hiring events back in April at its office and Marietta College as Hino prepared to move to its current facility in Mineral Wells.
