MARIETTA, Oh.-(WTAP) In 2019, Marietta College raised a record amount of money in its one-day financial support drive.
This year, it hopes to break that record.
Friday is the college's fourth annual "Day of Giving" both on campus and online.
It is encouraging students and alumni to give minimum donations of $5, to support the college's programs.
But organizers say it's about more than making donations.
"The Day of Giving is about engaging individuals; not only here locally, but across the country and even around the world," says Vice-President for Advancement Josh Jacobs. "We've even logged some gifts from people from Sweden and beyond. This is a driver for engagement; making sure people have an opportunity to participate."
In 2019, more than 700 donors raised $104,000.
The Day of Giving continues until 3 A.M.Saturday, local time, and midnight on the West Coast.
