MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP)- Dozens of companies gathered at Marietta College to educate the community about the importance of the oil and gas industry.
More than 40 companies attended an oil and gas exhibition at the college.
The event provided hands on learning about the industry and allowed an opportunity for students to network with companies.
Coordinators say it's a great platform for anyone interested in oil and gas, upcoming technology, or concerns in the market to learn more.
Derek Krieg, lead coordinator of the exhibition, explains the importance of learning beyond the classroom. "You've got to get outside of it. You have got to get that networking, you've got to get hands on with technologies, talk to people, and that is what we are trying to facilitate and do as well."
Johnny Goff, Vice President of Operations at Hydro-Edge Solutions, states how he feels the exhibition was beneficial for both the students and companies. "I think they got to learn a lot about what we do and what we are looking for. They get the educational component while they are at school here, but to see the professional component of what we bring and what they are looking for in a job and what we are looking for in an employee; it was a win-win for both of us."
The event was organized by students and took place from 10 am to 4 pm on Friday.
