Marietta celebrated their 185th birthday with a Founders Day celebration Thursday.
Faculty, staff, and community members gathered in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center for dinner, drinks, and awards given out by President Bill Ruud.
This event used to be an academic event, but around five years ago President Ruud decided to make a change to better include the community.
The number of awards continue to grow as well.
Tara Meagle, Coordinator of Development Events, says that last year she reserved nine tables for award winners and this year she reserved fourteen.
This year's Founders Day was one of the most successful ever, with nearly 300 people in attendance.
