MARIETTA OH, (WTAP)- UPDATE 4/15/19
The Marietta YMCA announces they will be moving into their new space next month.
Officials say they expect to move into the new renovated space at 1301 Colegate Drive next to Goodwill on May 13.
The new space will continue their childcare programs and group fitness classes.
Officials want the community to know the "Y" is not gone... but alive and well in the community.
"The building was hard to maintain, so now all the money that we're able to raise with our fundraising and our annual campaign and our mud run," CEO Kerry Jean Waddle said, "we are able to take that money not just to fix lights but to move toward a future YMCA, possibly a new building in our future, making partnerships with people in the community along the way."
A grand opening for the new headquarters is planned for May 18.

The Marietta Family YMCA will soon sell its building on 7th Street and is restructuring to make the most of its limited resources and still serve the community.
Beginning March 31, childcare will be the only service still offered at the YMCA at their current location on 7th Street.
The organization has the intention of relocating that program at the end of April.
They will also offer Running Club, Bridges Forward, and Volleyball programs at offsite locations.
For now, the Marietta group will no longer have youth sports, the exercise equipment facility, group fitness, and the aquatics center, beginning March 31st.
“The important part to remember in all this is that the YMCA is still going to be active in Marietta and the surrounding area, but it’s going to look different.
The YMCA transcends walls and buildings of cement.
We are having an impact in many different ways and we are going to continue to have that impact,” Rick Smith, Chief Volunteer Officer and Chairman of The Board at the Marietta Family YMCA.
The group says that these changes are happening because of financial limitations.
The Marietta Family YMCA has not yet chosen a new location.
