UPDATE: Ohio men indicted for string of armed pharmacy robberies in Western PA and Ohio

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 06/13/2019 11:37 AM

Three Ohio residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of conspiracy to commit armed pharmacy robbery, armed pharmacy robbery, and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute Schedule II controlled substances, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Wednesday.

The seven-count indictment named Abdulrahman Abdelaziz Jamea, age 21, Arthur Lee Worthy, II, age 21, and Mohammed Jibril, age 19, formerly of Reynoldsburg, Ohio as the defendants.

According to the Indictment, on or about September 27, 2018, and continuing thereafter to on or about May 10, 2019, the defendants conspired to rob numerous different pharmacies while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, and conspired to possess with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled substances.

The following pharmacies were affected:

• On or about September 27, 2018, the CVS Pharmacy, located at 124 Erie Street, Edinboro, Pennsylvania 16412;

• On or about November 17, 2018, the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 1799 Third Street, Beaver, Pennsylvania 15009;

• On or about November 22, 2018, the CVS Pharmacy, located at 4610 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213;

• On or about December 2, 2018, the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 301 Greene Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750;

• On or about December 7, 2018, the CVS Pharmacy, located at 3800 Pine Avenue, Erie, Pennsylvania 16508; and

• On or about May 10, 2019, the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 417 Chartiers Street, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania 15017.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 25 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendants.

Assistant United States Attorney Shanicka L. Kennedy is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, Pennsylvania State Police, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Bridgeville Police Department, and the Ohio Highway Patrol conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.


UPDATE: 12/13/18 9:55 A.M.

Federal authorities in northern Ohio have arrested a suspect believed to be linked to a series of pharmacy robberies in multiple states, police said.

Marietta police have been investigating an armed robbery at the Rite Aid store on Greene Street on Dec. 2 and said the suspect arrested on Dec. 7 is believed to have been involved in similar crimes both before and after the local robbery.

In a news release Thursday morning, Marietta police said federal authorities are still conducting their investigation and that the suspect has not been identified because he has not been charged in connection with the local robbery.

No other details of the investigation have been released, including where the suspect was arrested.

A suspect identified by police as a black male robbed the Marietta Rite Aid. A pharmacist struck by the suspect's weapon was taken to the hospital, according to police.


UPDATE: 12/11/18 12;35 P.M.

More than a week after an armed robbery at the Rite Aid in Marietta, the company is offering a $10,000 reward to help catch the suspect, authorities said.

Marietta police say detectives are running down leads in the Dec. 2 robbery at the store on Greene Street, but so far there have been no arrests.

According to police, the suspect is a black male who should be considered armed and dangerous. He may have fled with another person in a newer red or maroon-colored car with temporary tags.

A pharmacist at the store was taken to the hospital after being hit with a pistol during the robbery.

UPDATE: 12/02/18 8:40 P.M.

Marietta Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in an armed robbery at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Marietta.

They tell us the suspect is a black male.

The incident happened at the Rite Aid, located at 301 Greene Street, at 5:49 p.m on Sunday.

A pharmacist was injured after being pistol whipped and was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Marietta Police say the suspect is believed to have fled in a newer red or maroon colored car with temporary tags and with another person in the car. It's suspected they were in the area for sometime before the incident occurred.

Police say these individuals are considered armed and dangerous.


ORIGINAL STORY: 12/02/18 7:00 P.M.

Marietta Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Rite Aid Sunday evening.

It happened at 6 p.m.

Police say they are looking for a maroon-colored car, possibly a Ford or Mitsubishi. They tell us the possible suspects are a young black male and a young white male.

The Rite Aid is located on Greene Street.
