K-9 Edo is 7 years old and has been with the Marietta Police Department for a few years now and Monday, he got his first bulletproof and stab proof vest.

Officer Glen McClelland says, it’s to make sure Edo is protected just like the rest of the officers.

The vest was donated by Vested Interest in K-9's, an organization whose mission is to protect dogs of law enforcement all over the United States.

These vests have a retail price of $950, so Edo was very happy to receive the donation.

K9’s like Edo help law enforcement in various ways.

"They do everything. He's certified in not only looking for narcotics, he also does tracking, area search, building search, article search and suspect apprehension if we need him to," said K-9 officer McClelland, Marietta Police Department.
