MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - On Friday, Jan. 18, some City of Marietta water customers will face a planned water outage and will be under a 24 hour Boil Water Advisory.

Marietta officials say the water outage will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, and will affect water customers on 1390 to 1524 Glendale Extension, and on all of Sherry Drive and Wagner Road.

The water will be turned off to allow crews to install a new fire hydrant and a 6-inch water shut off valve in the affected area.

Affected customers will also be under a Boil Water Advisory for 24 hours after their water service is restored, meaning customers should boil tap water for 2 minutes and allow it to cool before using it for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth.

Customers on the affected streets who experience brown (caused by mineral deposits) or milky (caused by trapped air) tap water discoloration should flush their cold water lines only, until their tap water is clear again.

You can read the entire notice to affected customers in the .PDF file in the "Related Documents" section of this story.
