Memorial Health launches new video-conferencing app for urgent care
A local health system rolls out a new digital form of care.
Memorial Health system launched its Memorial Care Now app on apple and android devices.
The new service allows patients to schedule a video chat appointment from their phone computer with E-R or urgent care physicians for a flat fee of 50 dollars. Memorial officials say this is a game changer
"We do feel strongly that providing our community with this option of telemedicine, we will be able to reach many more people in a much more efficient manner," said Dr. Tyler Hill, Memorial medical director of emergency and urgent services. "And this is how you change local health care in my opinion, is providing our patients with this option. There's so many potential benefits for our community with this."
Memorial received a nearly $500,000 federal grant last month to explore a telemedicine program to treat opioid addiction.
