MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A local safety group received top honors from the state of Ohio for its efforts to promote safety in 2018.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council (MOVSC) won first place for safety council of the year at a ceremony in Columbus.
The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation recognizes the top four councils each year. Last year, the MOVSC won second place and third two years ago.
"It's incredibly humbling to know that we are in the top for safety recognition in the state of Ohio with our safety council," Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce president/CEO Carrie Ankrom said. "And we are always bringing top individuals and topics and speakers to our monthly meetings."
"We bring valuable topics, OSHA updates, BWC updates, " MOVSC co-manager Candi Weiss said, "so they kind of get, it's a one-stop shop for safety."
The MOVSC is sponsored by the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio BWC and boasts almost 150 members.
