Mineral Wells business plans to rebuild after devastating fire

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WTAP) - A Wood County couple vows to reopen their business after a fire forced them to close earlier this month.

The fire broke out at Rustic Restoration, a DIY home decor studio in Mineral Wells, on May 3. The building is still standing but most of the inside was heavily damaged.

Lexy Edwards and her husband opened the business in 2018. Now the fire is forcing them to start over but they're not doing it alone.

"We're definitely heartbroken but the community immediately reached out in ways that we can't even explain and that kind of helped us feel okay about things," Edwards said.

Edwards said they are not letting this get them down and they plan to reopen.

"We're just kind of looking for a temporary space but we plan to rebuild at the same location probably six months or so we should be up and running," Edwards said.

The fire was caused due to faulty wiring.

Rustic Restoration is having a pop-up market fundraiser on June 29 near 891 Society Hill Road in Mineral Wells. They'll have everything from live music to paint workshops. All the proceeds will help the business reopen.
