MARIETTA OH (WTAP)- National Drug Take-Back Day is aimed at reducing addiction and overdose deaths in the United States.
Washington County alone have seven drop off locations where people can turn in unused or expired medications for safe disposal. Sheriff Larry Mincks says that this is a safe way to get rid of medication that could end up in the wrong hands.
“We have found that that’s where a lot of young people start their habit; going to medicine cabinets, taking a few pills here and there, then having a party. So we’re trying to get rid of excess medication,” says the Washington County Sheriff.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is scheduled for April 27th from 10 AM to 2 PM. You can contact your local law enforcement for specific drop off locations.
