New playground equipment coming to Mountwood Park

WAVERLY, W.Va. (WTAP) - A new playground is being built in Mountwood Park thanks to the Lowe’s Heroes program and Wood County Parks.

The Lowe's on the south side of Parkersburg and the Vienna Lowe’s donated $2,500 each toward the build and supplied volunteers from their workforce. Wood County parks gave $5,000 toward the build.

The playground is being built next to the Carson Station Shelter and is nearly complete.

“This is one of our most used shelters in the park. So having a playground, a piece of playground equipment right next to Carson Station Shelter is going to be great. The kids will have a playground structure to play on at Carson Station Shelter,” said Wood County Parks Director Jeremy Cross.

The playground will be complete after mulch is added on Tuesday. It will then be open for the public to use.
