New shelter at Fort Boreman Park named for David A. Couch

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Wood County Commission decided to name a new shelter at Fort Boreman Park in honor of David A. Couch, a former county commissioner.

Suggested by Commissioner Bob Tebay, the motion to name the shelter passed unanimously.

Commission President David Blair Couch says he’s “humbled” by the decision to name the shelter after his father, who served on county commission until the year 2000.

He says his father was a part of the team that built Fort Boreman Park and he is looking forward to spending time there.

The shelter was built using funds made by a Rotary Sour Mash golf tournament, in which David A. Couch was named the beneficiary.
