MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Many gathered at the Washington County Courthouse this afternoon for the swearing-in of Washington Count's newly appointed prosecuting attorney.
Nicole Coil was sworn in by Sheriff Larry Mincks as the county's first female prosecuting attorney.
Coils said her office has some catching up to do, but she does plan on having some cases being looked at within the next week.
Coil replaced former Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Rings who resigned in April before his conviction on a misdemeanor coercion charge for which he received a 60-day jail sentence.
Coil, a longtime assistant in the prosecutor's office, was appointed by the county's Republican Central Committee.
