No injuries in collision between car and train in Pleasants County

PLEASANTS COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - A man escaped serious injury Wednesday afternoon when his car and train collided at a rail crossing just north of Belmont in Pleasants County, authorities said.

According to a spokesman for the St. Marys Fire Department, the collision happened as the man was driving across the tracks in front of Wrights Marine to turn onto Route 2.

He was the only person in the car and was not injured, the spokesman said.

The crossing remained blocked Wednesday afternoon while authorities waited for a CSX official to arrive at the scene.

The Pleasant County Sheriff's Department is handling the crash investigation.
