PARKERSBURG W.Va. (WTAP) - A fire caused an estimated $40,000 damage at a Parkersburg home Sunday morning, firefighters said.
The Parkersburg Fire Department responded to the 2800 block of Dudley Avenue shortly before 8 a.m.
The homeowner and her cat were able to escape without injury, firefighters said, adding that the flames were contained to one room but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the first floor.
The fire has been ruled an accident.
The homeowner is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
