ODNR grants Meigs County park over $500K
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has awarded Forked Run State Park in Meigs County $510,000 according to a news release.
The money is primarily for the reconstruction of the park's river dam.
A recent inspection was done at the park, and it determined that renovations are needed for the lake drain, the stilling basin, and to address the spillway capacity.
ODNR plans to investigate the issues, and it is their goal to bring the dam back to "full compliance with safety standards."
"This park offers tremendous opportunities for outdoor recreation, and we want to ensure that continues," said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. "Investing in this dam protects the park, the surrounding area, and, most importantly, our citizens."
The dam was constructed in 1951.
