COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTAP) - Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed a law that will allow motorcyclists to legally wear ear plugs and headphones while riding.
Previously, this was $150 dollar fine and a minor misdemeanor.
Experts say earplugs help prevent long-term hearing damage and protect riders from wind noise.
According to reports, riders experience 80 to 105 decibels of wind noise caused by highway speeds alone.
"It's really dangerous for people, I've been wearing hearing aids since I was 30 years old and that's 40 years," said Harry Irvine, a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders.
