WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oh.-(WTAP) Beginning next Monday, February 17, and continuing throughout the summer, road work on a portion of Ohio route 7 near Marietta will occasionally mean lane closures.
The Ohio Department of Transportation says it's the area between state route 550 and Moores Junction, just north of the Eramet plant.
Beginning February 17, the road will be resurfaced, the concrete barrier and a guardrail will be replaced and drainage improved, and-perhaps causing the most traffic headaches-repair of a rock fall hazard involving blasting.
"When we do the blasting work, we're going to shut down all four lanes of state route 7, just while the blasting is taking place," says ODOT District 10 spokeswoman Ashley Rittenhouse. "That will occur for 15 minutes at a time, while we have the road shut down. It will happen over the course of a couple of weeks, just intermittently."
Blasting will begin the following Monday, February 24, between Hanna Road (Township Road 464) and Bender Road (Township Road 279).
The construction work plans will be discussed at a public meeting next Tuesday, February 18.
It will be held from 5-7P.M. at the Belpre Christian Academy, at route 7 and Main Street in Belpre.
