MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - For his outstanding service during 2019, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Dustin Payne is Trooper of the Year at the Marietta Post. His fellow troopers chose him as Trooper of the Year for his professionalism, leadership skills, and great attitude, among other reasons.
Payne is familiar with Washington County, as he’s originally from Waterford. He even graduated from Waterford High School, though he and his family currently live in Marietta.
He’s also no stranger to awards. He’s been honored with several other Highway Patrol awards, including the Criminal Patrol Award, the Safe Driving Award, and even District Trooper of the Year.
Payne joined the State Highway Patrol in 2009, serving either the Dayton or Marietta posts since.
As Marietta Post Trooper of the Year, Payne is now in the running to be District and State Trooper of the year. Both titles will be awarded at a later date.
