MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Christmas Day is past us-and New Year's Day is just around the corner.
And soon, we'll all be disposing of our used Christmas trees.
Greenleaf Landscapes in Marietta suggests when possible, recycling those trees, rather than just throwing them away.
It works with the City of Marietta to recycle trees for its city sanitation customers. But Greenleaf customers who bought their trees there can also bring them in for mulching.
"Something else people can do is contact the Department of Natural Resources or the Army Corps of Engineers," Garden Center Manager Nick Mehl says. "They use it for fish habitats, to school, and in lakes and ponds and streams."
Greenleaf breaks down its recycled trees as a mulch for later use.
Customers who bring in their trees are asked to show identification.
