Old Man Rivers mission establishes endowment through PACF

PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) The Old Man Rivers mission now has an endowment through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation.

The mission's board of directors believes having the endowment will help it supplement its annual operating expenses.

The mission serves more than 600 families a month from its pantry.

It believes its current donors will continue their contributions through the foundation.

"I think we have some donors who normally give money to us that may put some money in that may help us do some matching," says Board Chairman Wally Earnest. "That way, when people in the community give toward this, the money will be doubled for whatever they give, up to a certain level.">

In addition to the pantry the mission prepares meals each weekend for the elderly, disabled and the homeless.

The Community Foundation helped provide the mission with a truck to help deliver those meals.
