Gallia County inmate captured in Circleville

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 08/12/2019, 1:59 P.M.

The last of three men who escaped from the Gallia County Jail Sunday evening has been captured in Pickaway County, Ohio, authorities said.

According to the Gallia County Sheriff's office, Richard Clements was taken into custody by the United States Marshal Service in Circleville, Ohio.

Authorities have not released additional details about his capture.

Sheriff Matt Champlin said Clements and two other inmates overpowered a guard and ran away just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Two of the inmates, who weren't indentified, were captured shortly after the escape.

An inmate remained at large Monday morning after deputies say he and two other inmates escaped from the Gallia County Jail Sunday evening.

Sheriff Matt Champlin said three inmates overpowered a guard and ran away just after 5:30 p.m.

Two of the inmates were captured, but Champlin said Richard Clements Jr. remains at large.

Deputies said he is 6-foot-2, weighs 215 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and orange jail pants.
