UPDATE: Authorities release name of driver killed in Williamstown crash

WILLIAMSTOWN, W. Va. (WTAP) - Update: 12/2/2019

Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens says 20-year old Dakota James Miller of Williamstown died at the scene of Sunday morning's fatal crash on rt. 31.

The second driver, 23-year old Micala Woodall of Marietta, was seriously injured and taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital, then transferred by helicopter to another medical facility.

Sheriff Stephens says, due to patient confidentiality, Marietta Memorial has not disclosed where Woodall was flown to.

A passenger in Woodall's vehicle also was hospitalized.

One person is dead and two people are injured after a head-on crash in Williamstown Sunday morning.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred at the intersection of West Virginia State Route 31 (also known as Williamstown Pike) and Sunshine Mountain Road at approximately 8:03 a.m.

Two vehicles were involved in the wreck, both Ford Sedans. Further details on the crash were not immediately released.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals involved were transported by ambulance to Camden Clark Medical Center. One of the patients, whose injuries are described as severe, was then flown by medical helicopter to another hospital for further treatment, according to sheriff's deputies.

Neither the names of the deceased individual nor the two injured patients were released.

The Wood County Crash Team were called to the scene and are handling the crash investigation.

Williamstown Police, Williamstown Fire, Waverly Fire, Wood County Sheriff's Office, and the Camden Clark Ambulance assisted in the incident.
