PHS Key Club members give back to local families for Thanksgiving
Key Club members at Parkersburg High School are giving back to local families this Thanksgiving through a school-wide food drive.
The food drive was held the entire month of November in which 'Thanksgiving dinner boxes' totaling less than $20 were placed in each classroom at the school. Students filled them everyday with non-perishable food items such as canned yams and mashed potatoes.
The families will also receive other staple Thanksgiving food items such as ham and dinner rolls.
Principal Kenny DeMoss says education is a service industry and he always encourages students to pay it forward.
"It's important to also take care of our community if we're able to", said DeMoss.
The boxes are expected to feed at least 75 local families. DeMoss and the students hand delivered the food items to the Parkersburg Salvation Army on Thursday.
