PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Launched in 2012 by an independent New York based organization, Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to doing good. Celebrated the
Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the goal of Giving Tuesday is to promote giving back to your community.

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation has similar goals to Giving Tuesday every day.

The PACF’s Development and Communications Officer Julie Posey says the best way to give back this Giving Tuesday is to find a cause you connect with and stay involved with it.

She says people can give back in three main ways; treasures, talents and time. Treasures refers to donating items or money to the places that need them; talents refers to using an acquired skill to help others; and time refers to volunteering.

“We just encourage people to give back and do good in any way possible. Because whatever we’re doing, this is our home. We’re trying to make it a better place for everyone,” said Posey.
