Parkersburg High School’s ROTC building renamed to honor Ronald Kincaid

PARKERSBURG, W.Va (WTAP)- The building was renamed the Ronald Kincaid Navy JROTC Unit after one of PHS’s most innovative principals.

He worked diligently to implement the program he greatly supported at PHS.

The unveiling ceremony welcomed school officials, members of the Kincaid family, and members of the community.

“Dad, was really a kind of a military guy. He really enjoyed his military service and one of the programs that he really fought for was the ROTC program here at PHS. As the years went on, he always supported that and wanted it to grow and be a part of the community,” remembers Douglas Kincaid, the honoree’s son.

“It’s just amazing to think that, Mr. Kincaid, many years ago wanted to bring this ROTC unit to PHS…it’s a great program we have. Chief and Commander do an excellent job of teaching these kids, and Mr. Kincaid would be very proud,” believes Kenny DeMoss, Principal of PHS.

Ronald Kincaid is the second longest serving principal in PHS history.
