Police: Girl, 11, treated at hospital after being bitten by dog

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) An 11-year-old-girl suffered injuries to her face when she was bitten by a family's friends dog, police said.

Parkersburg Police initially said the girl was treated for her injuries at WVU Medicine Camden Clark and released but on Friday confirmed that she was transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for additional treatment.

Police said the owner was cited for having a dog at large but still has custody of the dog.

Police said the incident happened on 4th Avenue in south Parkersburg Wednesday while the girl was playing with the dog after it broke free from a tether.
