Parkersburg man gets 63-month sentence on federal gun charge

CHARLESTON, W.Va (WTAP) - A 26-year-old Parkersburg man was sentenced to 63 months in prison for his guilty plea to a federal weapons charge.

Christopher Saunders, who pleaded guilty in January to being a felon in possession of a firearm, is prohibited from having a firearm because of a 2012 malicious-wounding conviction in Wood County Circuit Court.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release that Saunders admitted to selling a sawed-off shotgun to a confidential informant in March 2018.

He was among four people sentenced for unrelated gun crimes last week in U.S. District Court in Charleston.
