A pick-up truck driver died and a passenger was seriously injured early Friday morning after the truck rolled over several times on State Route 233 in Gallia County, authorities said.

The Gallipolis post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Terry R. Miller, 55, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was killed in the crash that occurred just before 5 a.m. near milepost 1. He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, troopers said.

The passenger, Willyim A. McDowell, 21, also of Oak Hill, was taken by helicopter to Cabell-Huntington Hospital with what troopers called "incapacitating injuries."

Troopers said Miller was driving south on Route 233 when he drove off the left side of the road and over-corrected, causing the truck to overturn several times before landing on a guardrail.

The road was closed for about four hours, and the crash remains under investigation.
