MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - According to Chief C.W. Durham of the Marietta Fire Department, a pickup truck caught fire traveling southbound on Interstate 77 near the Marietta exit just before six this morning.
Authorities say that the truck was involved in a single vehicle accident, but are unsure of the cause.
Chief Durham says the single person in the truck was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
I-77 was temporarily shut down in both directions for firefighting efforts, and that one lane of 77 South was shut down for an hour and a half.
The Marietta Fire Department, Marietta Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and ODOT were at the scene.
All units cleared the scene shortly after 8:30 A.M.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
