Point Park is being closed until further notice because of the threat of high waters on the Ohio River, according to the city of Parkersburg's Public Works Director.

The decision was made to close Point Park at 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon.

The current river level is 28.15 feet, and the concern is that the water could rise over the lower parking level.

Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the river could reach levels as high as 29.5 feet and stay around that level for a couple of days.

On Friday night, it is estimated that the river could be as high as 30.5 feet.

Any questions regarding closing can be directed to the City of Parkersburg's Public Works Director.
