Prescription-drug reaction sends 5 students to hospital

WESTON, W.Va. (AP) - An adverse reaction to a prescription drug sent five Lewis County high-school students to the hospital on Monday, authorities said.

Chris Derico, a central office administrator at Lewis County High School, said officials think one student brought the medication to school and shared it with others.

He said teachers noticed unusual behavior from a student, who was sent to the nurse's office for evaluation. Four other students later went to the office with similar symptoms.

Officials did not indicate what medication the students took but said they are expected to fully recover.
